This new section of the website is the start of a formal area to highlght the recent advances in our recgonizing of our success. Over the next few months we plan on adding several items to this portal.

Our first advancement is the posting of the applications for the 3 major awards that we accept Nominations for; Joyce Myers Merit Award, Volunteer of the Year, and Inductees to the NSCA Hall of Fame.

These awards are announced annually at the Celebration of Excellence.  The Volunteer of the Year Award and teh Joyce Myers Merit Award are presented at the Celebration of Excellence.  The Inductees to the NSCA Virtual Hall of Fame are inducted at one of the three major Provincial Championships - Men'S & Women's Junior Provincial Championship, Women's Scotties Provincial Championship and the Men's Tankard Provincial Championship.

  

Joyce Myers Merit Award

Joyce Myers was a curler who influenced curling at many levels. She was an accomplished competitor, representing Nova Scotia a number of times in ladies and mixed competitions. She instilled a love of curling in those she coached and in many the drive and ability to become champions. As an official she led the way in developing competitions to the high level of fair play that exists today. Joyce organized officiating at many Provincial, Canadian and World championships. Joyce served on the executive of her club, as well as provincial and national curling associations resulting in the betterment of the sport.

The Joyce Myers Award will be conveyed upon the person who best exemplifies the ideals that Joyce stood for as a successful athlete, coach, official and builder in the sport of curling. A person who contributes in any or all of these areas can be nominated.

Volunteer of the Year

The Volunteer of the Year award was established to recongize one of the Nova Scotia Curling Community's greatest assets - our dedicated volunteers. The award is given annually to a member of the Nova Scotia Curling Association whose spirit and commitment to curling during the past season was exemplary.

Through their time and effort, these selfess individuals advance the sport of curling at their local club, on a provincial level or national level. They are our greatest ambassadors to potenital curlers, partners and the world. They are the backbone of the curling community and with out them our sport would not run.

NSCA Virtual Hall of Fame

In the spring of 2006 the two time World Champion Colleen Jones team made the decision to breakup. The Nova Scotia Curling Association needed to do something of significate improtance to honour Canada's best curling team. With no hesitation the Board quickly introduced the NSCA virtual Hall of Fame. The Jones' Rink became the first Inductees.

The NSCA accepts four (4) categories of inductees into the NSCA Virtual Hall of Fame:

  • Curler
  • Curler/Builder
  • Builder
  • Executive Honour Roll
