Zachernuk Two Time Medalist in Mixed Doubles

Nick Zachernuk, second on the Nova Scotia Junior Men’s Team, earned the gold medal in the Canadian Juniors Mixed Doubles competition held during the Canadian Junior Curling Championships, just completed in Victoria, BC. This is the second medal for Nick in the discipline in as many years.  He won the silver medal in the Canadian Juniors Mixed Doubles last year in Stratford, Ontario.

All the curlers and coaches, except those in the playoffs, are paired into 42 Mixed Doubles teams, which are placed in a single knockout playdown on the last weekend of the Championship. Nick was teamed with Hailey Ryan, mate for the Manitoba women’s team, and Dean Kleiter, coach of the Saskatchewan men’s team.

2017 Canadian Juniors starts Saturday In Victoria, BC

The 2017 Canadian Junior Menʼs and Womenʼs Curling Championships, presented by Ambrosia Apples, get underway Saturday at the Archie Browning Sports Centre.

It’ll be a Canadian Juniors filled with both experience and prominent bloodlines as the country best young curlers battle the right to represent Canada at the World Juniors in South Korea.

Pathways to Podiums Event

With the postponement of the Jan 8 Pathways to Podiums event, due to weather, we have been able to secure Russ Howard, Mary Anne Arsenault and Grant Odishaw to return on January 21. Bridgewater Curling Club are kindly hosting the event, 9am-5pm.  Given several teams that originally signed up are not able to attend on Jan 21st, we will be offering a sign up for anyone who wants to attend. 2017 U Sports-Curling Canada University Championships to be hosted by Lakehead

Canada’s best university curling teams will be heading to Thunder Bay, Ont., next March for the 2017 U Sports-Curling Canada Canadian University Curling Championships.

The 10th renewal of the event is scheduled for March 18-22 at the Fort William Curling Club, it was announced jointly today by Curling Canada and U Sports.
