2017 Scotties Gets Underway Saturday in St. Catherines, Ont

An intriguing blend of new faces and veterans will take to the ice on Saturday at the Meridian Centre when the  2017 Scotties Tournament of Hearts gets underway in St. Catharines, Ont.

Of the 48 players (not counting alternates) who will comprise the main round-robin field of the Canadian Women’s Curling Championship, only seven are past champions at the Scotties.

Final 5 Qualifiers Determined For 2017 Tim Horton's Brier

A rematch of the 2013 Tim Hortons Roar of the Rings men’s gold-medal game will be part of a dandy opening draw at the 2017 Tim Hortons Brier on March 4 at Mile One Centre in St. John’s.

Northern Ontario’s Brad Jacobs (Sault Ste. Marie), who won that 2013 Trials final before winning Olympic gold in Sochi, will play B.C.’s John Morris in Draw 1 in St. John’s after both teams won their respective provincial championships on Sunday — the final day of qualifying for the 2017 Canadian Men’s Curling Championship

Curling Canada accepting bids to host 2018-19 championships

Canadian cities looking for national exposure and revenue for local business now have a chance to bid for Curling Canada’s 2018-19 championships, it was announced today.

Bids are being accepted for the 2019 Tim Hortons Brier, the 2019 Scotties Tournament of Hearts, the 2018 Home Hardware Canada Cup and the 2019 World Financial Group Continental Cup, in addition to all other Canadian championship curling events.

Zachernuk Two Time Medalist in Mixed Doubles

Nick Zachernuk, second on the Nova Scotia Junior Men’s Team, earned the gold medal in the Canadian Juniors Mixed Doubles competition held during the Canadian Junior Curling Championships, just completed in Victoria, BC. This is the second medal for Nick in the discipline in as many years.  He won the silver medal in the Canadian Juniors Mixed Doubles last year in Stratford, Ontario.

All the curlers and coaches, except those in the playoffs, are paired into 42 Mixed Doubles teams, which are placed in a single knockout playdown on the last weekend of the Championship. Nick was teamed with Hailey Ryan, mate for the Manitoba women’s team, and Dean Kleiter, coach of the Saskatchewan men’s team.
