Together with his colleagues\, Glenn Paulley and Michel LaDouceur\, John has been an active proponent of advancing the sport through technology and research with specific emphasis on sweeping. John has developed an instrumented broom which both he and Glenn have used for 10 years to study sweeping in athletes at all levels and to develop strategies for improving individual and team performance with respect to sweeping. \nJohn will review the mechanics of brushing and what we have learned about body position\, broom pressure/speed\, stopwatch use\, slider vs gripper\, open vs closed stance and other aspect of technique.
