September 28, 2018 – Curling Canada held their annual awards gala last night at the Ottawa Hunt Club to recognize outstanding performances by member associations and individuals both on and off the ice.
Nova Scotia’s first award of the night was the Governors’ Cup. The Governors’ Cup is awarded to the Member Association making the biggest year-to-year improvement on an average points basis. Nova Scotia accumulated 148 points this year across 14 events finishing in second place in the race for the MA Cup. This was a 47 point improvement over the 2016/17 season. Thank you to all of our teams for their amazing effort!
Nova Scotia’s second award of the night was the inaugural Curling Canada Foundation Cup. The Curling Canada Foundation Cup is awarded to the Member Association that scores the highest average points in the four championships devoted to youth curling — the Canadian Junior (Under 21) Men’s and Women’s Championships and the Canadian Under-18 Boys and Girls Championships. Nova Scotia earned 3 firsts & 1 sixth place finishes in this category. Thank you to Team Jones, Team Manuel, Team Purcell and Team Ladouceur for bringing this brand new Award to Nova Scotia!
