DESCRIPTION:Looking to expand your knowledge and develop as an Ice Technician? This course is for you! \nHead Ice Technician (HIT) Course (2.5 Day) – Curl Kentville – October 9-11\, 2026 \nThe Head Curling Ice Technician course is a two and a half day workshop suitable for individuals who are looking for a career in ice making and need to learn the skills of installing\, maintaining and removing ice in a dedicated curling facility for league and bonspiel play. These individuals may need to supervise Assistant Ice Technicians as well. At the completion of the workshop\, students are given Head Ice Technician (HIT) – TRAINED status. \nLocation: Curl Kentville\, Kentville NS \nDate & Time: Friday October 9 (5:00pm – 8:30pm) Saturday October 10 & Sunday October 11 (9:00am to 5:00pm) \nMaximum Participants in Course: 12 \nDeadline to register: Friday September 25\, 2026 \nBring: clean\, grippy shoes\, warm clothing\, notebook\, pencils\, water bottle\, snacks \nLunch: Lunch is on your own \nCourse materials will be sent via email prior to the course – bring a tablet/ipad/laptop to access your course materials – if you don't have access please reach out and we can provide a hard copy \nPRE-REQUISITE (at least one of the following): \nAssistant Ice Technician (AIT) course completion – Trained status \nWorld Curling Federation – Introduction to Ice Maintenance (Online) \n12 Months working at a Curling facility under the supervision of a Certified Head Ice Technician. \nFormer Curling Canada Level 1 Ice Technician Course \nFormer Facility Operator Assistant Course (Ontario) \nParticipants of the Head Ice Technician Program can expect to learn about: \nWhat makes “good ice” \nCurling Centre Safety \nRefrigeration plant operation and safety \nWater quality \nFloors \nInstallation and removal \nPebbling & Scraping \nPaint/logo techniques \nStone maintenance \nManaging environmental conditions \nDaily Maintenance \nPlease contact Jill Brothers for any questions: \nWITHDRAWALS & REFUND POLICY: If NS Curling Cancels or Reschedules: In the event NS Curling cancels or reschedules a course for any reason\, registered participants may choose to receive a full refund or apply their registration fee toward a future course. \nIf a Participant Cancels: 7 Days or More Prior to the Course Date: A refund will be issued and may be subject to an administrative fee of up to 20% of the total registration fee\, at NS Curling's discretion.
