HONOURED MEMBER

CHRIS MANUGE

INDUCTED IN 2017

Story – Induction Speech Read by Harry Daemen

I have had the privilege of serving under the two year NSCA presidency of Chris Manuge (Amherst CC) and certainly utilized her mentorship frequently in her subsequent position as Immediate Past President.

Chris began her NSCA service as the two year term Fundy Regional Director at the May 2011 AGM under Shirley Osborne’s presidency.

Advancing to serve as Vice President in Tom Birchill’s presidency and subsequently assuming the President position in May 2014. During her two one year terms as president she also served as the Curling Canada Members’ Association chair and an active volunteer on some of its sub-committees. One aspect of her leadership roll that shone through was her continuous pressing to recognize the athletes and volunteers of this sport in forwarding award nominees for provincial and national award consideration.

Chris continued to sit on the NSCA board for an additional year as Immediate Past President and during this past season continued to volunteer her skills as a mentor and “elder” to the board, as well as liaison duties at last year’s U21 and this year’s Seniors in her Amherst club.

So in this setting of celebrating Excellence, and without in anyway inferring that her service to NSCA is lessening, I do wish to formally induct her into the Nova Scotia Curling Association Hall of Fame in the Executive Honour Roll category.
