SYDNEY, N.S. — A local curling team captured the Canadian Visually Impaired Curling Championship in Ottawa on Friday.
The Louise Gillis rink, representing Nova Scotia and the Sydney Curling Club at the tournament, captured the gold medal, defeating Ontario 8-1 in the final.
The Gillis rink, which posted a 4-2 record in the round robin, advanced to the championship contest with an 8-7 win over Team Canada.
The team returned to Cape Breton with their medals over the weekend.
